CompUSA & DiscoveryTools.com Launch Mac Traning Program
According to a newsbyte posted over at Macnn.com over the weekend CompUSA in association with a company called Discovery Tools.com announced that they will open a Mac training session. The training session, which is unfortunately, not nationwide, will be held at the following CompUSA locations:
New York, NY
San Francisco CA
Chicago, IL
Atlanta, GA
Boston, MA
San Diego, CA
Los Angeles, CA
Miami, FL
Seattle, WA
Denver, CO
Scottsdale, AZ
Dallas, TX
The training session will cover topics that range from moving from the old Mac OS standard found in Mac OS 9 to the UNIX based Mac OS X operating system. The training sessions will also focus heavily on Apples multimedia technologies, which include such software as iMovie 2 and DVD Studio Pro. According to the newsbyte the trainees will be taught the above on PowerBook G4 computers connected into an AirPort wireless network. Dates for the training courses and store locations can be found at http://www.discoverytools.com/training/schedule.html. Training courses range in price from as low as $99.95 to as high as a price as $495.
My Thoughts:
While I commend both CompUSA and Discoverytools.com for taking the initiative to launch Macintosh training courses at the same time Im disappointed to see that Apple has not launched its own training courses that teach the basics of the Macintosh for either no fee or at a limited fee before a third-party took control. Hopefully, Apple will launch a series of these courses once its lineup of Apple Stores increase. In the meantime, though if you crave Macintosh knowledge now Discoverytools.com and CompUSA may be worth some consideration.Comments?
